NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The nationally-ranked Christopher Newport women's basketball team is back in action on Saturday, February 14 as the Captains (18-4) will host Regent University (6-15) at 2:00 p.m. Prior to the game, the Captains will show the love to the senior class in a special pregame ceremony.

The senior class includes Hailey Kellogg and McKenna Snively and the duo will be recognized for their contributions over the last four seasons. With a career winning percentage of 91.9 percent (102-9), the senior class of 2026 ranks third all-time at Christopher Newport and the duo became just the 10th class to reach 100 career wins.

For fans unable to be in attendance for the celebration or the game, a live video webcast will be available at CNUsports.com. Live stats will also be presented online with the link available at the top of this page as well as on the women's basketball schedule online.

Christopher Newport has won six of the last seven games and moved up to No. 17 in the WBCA Coaches Poll. The Captains are coming off a 71-53 win on Wednesday night at Salisbury University where Snively posted one of the most impressive shooting performances in program history. She knocked down eight of nine attempts from three-point land and closed out the game with 30 points for the Royal Blue and Silver. Snively became just the ninth player in program history with multiple 30-point performances and logged a new program record for three-point shooting percentage with at least seven made triples.

Also against the Sea Gulls, Kellogg played in 33 minutes and eclipsed 2,000 career minutes for her career. She dished out eight assists and scored six points while also grabbing two steals. Sophomore Madison McKenzie continued her standout second season with a 14-point showing and the Captains forced 26 Salisbury turnovers in the win.

For the year, nine different CNU players have scored 100 or more points in a well-balanced offensive season. McKenzie leads the way with 12.4 points per game while Snively climbed to second on the squad with 11.4 points per game. Mia Wilson (8.5), Elizabeth Creed (7.1), Caitlin Crump (6.5), Sarah Pritz (6.2), Jessica Dornak (6.0), and Kellogg (5.0) round out the high-powered group while rookie Sydney Worsham (10.2) was also averaging double figures before suffering an injury earlier in the year. Because of this balance, CNU ranks second behind only top-ranked NYU in bench scoring with 37.0 points per game coming from the reserves.

The game against Regent is the penultimate home game of the year for the Captains and will be the third matchup all-time against the Royals. CNU is 2-0 against Regent including a 92-39 win at home last season.

The Royals have won two in a row and three of their last five games. Regent defeated Warren Wilson on the road, 71-70, before returning home to sweep the season series against Mid-Atlantic Christian, 81-50. The team has been led by Kennedy Shipman with 13.9 points per game. Amara Groth has started all 20 games this season and is averaging 7.8 points and 4.2 rebounds per game for the Royals.

Following the matchup against Regent on Saturday, the Captains will stay at home to take on Virginia University of Lynchburg on Tuesday, February 17 at 6:00 p.m. The regular season will then conclude at Mary Washington next Saturday, February 21.
