Nora Cook and Amy Sidaway Sweep C2C Women's Soccer Player of the Week Honors for CNU Women's Soccer

BOSTON, Mass. -- After lifting Christopher Newport women's soccer to the regular season conference championship with a 3-0 win against Salisbury in the finale, a pair of Captains were recognized as the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. Rounding out her career with a record 13th C2C Defensive Player of the Week selection was senior goalkeeper Amy Sidaway while sophomore center back Nora Cook hauled in her first ever C2C Offensive Player of the Week certificate.

Sidaway set a CNU Athletics all-sport record for Defensive Player of the Week selections with 13 and ranks second all-time for overall women's soccer player of the week picks behind Riley Cook's 14. It was her fifth selection this season as the senior goalkeeper collected over half of the possible picks in 2026. Cook joins Caelyn LaFlamme (Week 3) as the only other CNU player to earn Player of the Week recognition this season.

With just one game on the docket, the Captains made sure to close out the regular season with a dominant win to secure the top seed in this week's conference tournament. The Captains were led by Cook on the offensive end as the sophomore scored twice on corner kick opportunities. Picking up her first career goal in the 29th minute, Cook finished in a scrum in front of the goal mouth with a left-footed poke into the right side.

The score would hold up as the gamewinner, but Cook added an insurance tally ten minutes later in the 39th minute. This time, the corner kick bounced off a Salisbury defender into the middle of the box where Cook read the carom perfectly and volleyed home a laser without letting it reach the dirt. While she contributed a brace offensively, she was also a dominant force for 90 minutes on the back line.

She played in front of this week's C2C Defensive Player of the Week, Amy SIdaway, who helped Christopher Newport collect its 11th shutout in 15 games played this season. The senior from Shelby Township, Mich. earned her 43rd career solo shutout and moved into the top-ten all-time in Division III history after making three saves against the Sea Gulls.

Sidaway has played all but 45 minutes in goal this season and boasts a 0.34 goals-against average which leads the league and ranks 11th nationally. She also ranks eighth nationally in save percentage and fifth in total shutouts with her tenth solo clean sheet. Among all active NCAA goalkeepers at all three levels, she ranks second in shutout percentage (.589) and fourth in GAA (0.39).

Christopher Newport will now turn its focus to postseason play as the Captains will host the 2026 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship starting on Thursday, November 5. The Captains will face either #4 Salisbury or #5 Johnson and Wales Charlotte at 4:00 p.m. in the semifinal round on Friday, November 6 with the winner advancing to the conference championship on Sunday.
