NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Picking up her sixth career recognition as the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, junior goalkeeper Amy Sidaway earned the certificate after helping lead the third-ranked CNU women's soccer team to a pair of shutouts in week two. 

Sidaway earned three C2C Defensive Player of the Week selections in her rookie campaign and picked up two more last season. Her selection on Monday was the first of her junior season.

The veteran netminder from Shelby Township, Michigan helped CNU set a program record with four consecutive shutouts to start the year after capturing her third solo shutout on Friday night against Mary Hardin-Baylor before picking up the win in a combined shutout on Sunday against Mount St. Joseph. Sidaway played over 160 minutes in the two wins and made three saves. 

With her solo shutout on Friday night, Sidaway recorded her 25th career clean sheet and sits in third place all-time at Christopher Newport. Pairing with Abby Ochs for the shutout on Sunday, it was Sidaway's eighth career combined effort. 

The Captains have outscored opponents by a count of 10-0 this season while holding the four foes to just 11 total attempts and five on target. 

Sidaway joins rookie Addy Hennessy as CNU winners of the honor this season and Christopher Newport has won 17 of the last 19 defensive player of the week awards from the conference dating back through the start of the 2023 season. 

Christopher Newport will hit the road this week for the first time in 2025 as they travel to Ohio for a pair of games. CNU takes on Case Western Reserve in a neutral site matchup on Friday night before facing host Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday.
