NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Christopher Newport University's volleyball team split a pair of Saturday afternoon matches against teams from across the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel.

In their first meeting with Regent University, also a member of the Coast-to-Coast Conference, the Captains cruised to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-7, 25-18) win. Earlier in the day, CNU lost 3-0 to No. 23 Virginia Wesleyan (25-17, 25-23, 30-28).

The Captains (9-6) never trailed while outscoring the Royals 75-34. CNU had a balanced offensive attack with eight kills by Samantha Dorn (.571), a career-high six by freshman Madison Rogers (.667) and five by Emmy Carpenedo.

The Captains finished with a .405 hitting percentage, their second-highest figure of the season. CNU had 13 service aces led by Dorn with four.
