VERO BEACH, Fla. -- Marking the highest percentage since 2020-21, over 60 percent of Christopher Newport's student-athletes were named to the 2024-25 Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference All-Academic team on Wednesday afternoon. In total, 217 CNU student-athletes earned their spot on the All-Academic team, continuing a string of seven straight years that at least half of the participating Captains have earned the academic honor.
Christopher Newport had 60.4 percent of their 359 total student-athletes that compete in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference earn the academic recognition. It stands as the third highest percentage since joining the league in 2013-14 and the highest mark in four years.
As a conference, a total of 870 student-athletes earned C2C All-Academic certificates. That mark represents 64.8 percent of all student-athletes in the league that earned recognition for achieving a 3.20 grade-point average for the academic year while participating in one or more of the C2C Championship sports.
There were many standout student-athletes for the Captains academically this year, including a CNU record 48 Academic All-District selections by the College Sports Communicators. Among them, three scholars have been named Academic All-Americans in repeat selections Alyssa Dozier (Volleyball), Hanna Heaton (Women's Soccer), and first-time pick Jamie Martin (Softball). Martin was also named the C2C Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year at the conclusion of the 2024-25 campaign.
This year, six Captains garnered the Academic All-Conference recognition for a fifth time as they finished out their five-year tenure at CNU. They join an exclusive list of just 17 previous five-time honorees. They are Gabbi San Diego (Women's Basketball), Mason Field (Men's Soccer), Corinne Kulik (Women's Soccer), Nyah Savage (Women's Soccer), Edvard Porsmyr Hansen (Men's Tennis), and Macy Burk (Volleyball). In addition, a total of 19 more CNU student-athletes were four-time Academic All-Conference selections in 2024-25.
