ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- The Christopher Newport baseball team begins a four-game road trip to close out the 2025 regular season on Tuesday afternoon as the Captains (18-16) head to North Carolina Wesleyan for a 4:00 p.m. first pitch. Game time has been moved up to 4:00 p.m. in an announcement by the teams on Tuesday morning after first pitch was originally scheduled for 6:00 p.m. On Wednesday, CNU will return to action at Eastern Mennonite University at 4:00 p.m.

CNU will be taking on the Battling Bishops for the 109th time all-time and trail the series, 49-59, that dates all the way back to the 1982 season. The Captains have won 10 of the last 12 including a 14-4 decision at Captains Park earlier this season.
Josh Reinhold led the way in the win, going 4-for-4 with a pair of walks and a couple of RBI.
Lincoln Lubsen was 3-for-3 with a pair of walks against the Bishops as well while
Aaron Maxie had a team-high three RBI.Â
On Wednesday, CNU takes on Eastern Mennonite and owns a 17-3-2 all-time record against the Royals. The Captains have won eight straight in the series, sweeping the 2024 home-and-home series by outscoring Eastern Mennonite, 26-10.Â
The two games mid-week kick off a four-game stretch away from home to close out the regular season. The Captains will also travel to Salisbury on Saturday, April 26 before finishing out at Hampden-Sydney on Monday, April 28.Â

Doc Daniels boasts a top-25 career batting average with a .399 mark and he is among the team leaders with a .354 mark in 2025. Despite battling injuries, Daniels has delivered 23 hits in 65 at-bats this season. He trails only
Jake Benedict (.417) and Maxie (.398) on the team hitting chart this year. Benedict ranks 18th nationally in hits with 58 and has registered a top-ten single season batting average all-time at CNU, currently ranking seventh. Maxie boasts the fourth-highest on-base percentage (.527) in program history while also providing a reliable defensive option at first base, ranking fourth in single season fielding percentage and the highest non-catching number all-time.Â
N.C. Wesleyan ranks 15th nationally in walks and are led by Javier Quintana ranks in the top-30 with 30 free passes this season. Jacob Trivette is hitting a team-high .337 while also pacing the Bishops with seven home runs. Eastern Mennonite has been led by Erik Wilkinson with a .381 average while Daniel McGinnis has added a .372 mark in 28 starts this year. The balanced offense is hitting .309 as a team heading into the Wednesday matchup with CNU.Â
