NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Playing on an increasingly hot day at the Eyre Courts on campus Saturday afternoon, the 24th-ranked Christopher Newport men's tennis team suffered a 5-2 decision to 14th-ranked Johns Hopkins. The Captains honored the senior class prior to their final home regular season match before falling to 10-8 on the season in the matchup between Atlantic South region powers.

Ryan Monroe as the quartet took on the nationally-ranked opponent following their storied careers at CNU.
Helping lift CNU to a 1-0 lead in doubles play, Legum paired with junior
Vincent Truong for a 6-3 win over Daniel Ardila and Dylan Blenkiron at No. 1 doubles. The Captains dropped the match at No. 2 doubles but
Rainer Christiansen and
Alex Seretis held off Pranav Gadiraju and Marco Azar for a 6-4 win at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point.
Moving into singles play, Truong came away with the highlight win of the day for CNU at No. 1 singles. Taking on regionally-ranked Dylan Blenkiron, Truong dropped the first set before bouncing back in a big way to take the 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 win.
Porsmyr Hansen had a strong showing in his final home regular season match, suffering a 6-3, 7-5 decision to Zahari Stoimenov at No. 4. He forced the Blue Jays opponent to a seventh game in the second set and won eight total games in his outing.
Christopher Newport will finish out the regular season against nationally-ranked Salisbury in one week's time as the Captains travel to face the Sea Gulls on Saturday, April 26 at 3:00 p.m.
