NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Set to host the final home regular season game of the 2025 season, the Christopher Newport baseball team will host Mary Washington (22-9) at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. The game will serve as Senior Day for eleven CNU players in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference matchup at Captains Park.

John Harvell will recognize the careers of the senior class of 2025. Among the eleven seniors include pitchers
Christian Williams and
Colin D'Arcy alongside offensive veterans
Doc Daniels,
Grant Hartman,
Justin Liakos,
Lincoln Lubsen,
Kevin Mackmin,
Nick Norton,
Will Pellegrino,
Gavin Spencer, and
Eric Wilson. The seniors have contributed to 107 career victories and three straight NCAA Tournament appearances including the first ever Super Regional showing last season.
Christopher Newport owns a 36-12 all-time advantage in the series against Mary Washington including a 20-4 record in home games. The Captains dropped a 6-2 decision to the Eagles on the road earlier this season in Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference action.
Coming off a 12-10 win against Marymount on Thursday, the CNU offense is averaging just shy of ten runs per game over the last six games. The Captains have blasted 13 home runs in that stretch including a two-run shot against the Saints when
Jake Benedict left the yard for his team-leading fifth of the season. Mary Washington is 22-9 overall but has dropped three straight heading into the weekend tilt.
The Captains boast one of the best on-base percentages in program history while ranking 20th nationally in walks and 42nd in base hits. Benedict leads the attack with 58 hits, ranking seventh in Division III, and 28th in total bases with 87.
Aaron Maxie has reached on 27 walks this season, ranking in the top-40 nationally.
Mary Washington will counter with one of the best pitching staffs in the nation as the Eagles enter the game ranked sixth nationally in team ERA with a 3.13 mark. The C2C foe has allowed just 7.80 hits per game, ranking 15th nationally as Brendan McComber and Justin Ritz each rank in the top-30 nationally in ERA. Ritz has started nine games this season and has six wins.
Following the final home game of the season, the Captains will hit the road for four straight to close out the 2025 regular season slate. CNU will first head to N.C. Wesleyan on Tuesday, April 22 at 6:00 p.m.
