No. 4 CNU Women's Basketball Set to Close Regular Season at Salisbury on Friday at 4:00 pm; Game Day Moved Due to Snowfall

SALISBURY, Md. -- Prior to snowfall in the Hampton Roads area, head coach Bill Broderick announced a precautionary change to the final game of the regular season as the nationally-ranked Captains will now travel to Salisbury University on Friday, February 21 for a 4:00 p.m. matchup against the Sea Gulls. The fourth-ranked CNU women's basketball team will look to close out the regular season while riding a 16-game winning streak.

The win streak is the eighth longest active roll in Division III women's basketball and is the third longest run by the Captains over the last four years. With a victory over Salisbury on Friday, it would extend to 17 straight wins, tying a burst from the 2015-16 squad as a top-five win streak in program history.

Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. from the Maggs Physical Activities Center in Salisbury, Md. as the Captains close a home-and-home series against the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference foes. Earlier this season, CNU captured a 92-57 victory against the Sea Gulls at home and were led by rookie Sarah Pritz with 13 points and 8 rebounds. Elizabeth Creed (12 pts) and Katerina Dakos (10 pts) each added double figures for the Captains in the outing.

CNU is now 33-12 all-time against Salisbury including an 18-game winning streak heading into Friday's action. The Captains have not dropped a game against the Sea Gulls since 2015-16.

Offensively, Christopher Newport has established itself as one of the most dominant scoring teams in program history with over 80 points per game despite not a single player averaging double figures in 2024-25. Camille Malagar, with 9.5 points per game, is the team's leading scorer and is getting there in just 15.2 minutes per game. Only one Captain is averaging 18 minutes per game and that is junior guard Hailey Kellogg with 20.4 minutes per contest.

The reigning C2C Player of the Week, Gabbi San Diego, has moved up to third this season in assist-to-turnover ratio. She ranked fourth nationally last season and has been in the top-20 in Division III throughout her career. San Diego recently eclipsed 350 career assists, becoming just the sixth player in program history to reach the milestone.

In the front court, senior forward Hannah Orloff has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with 8.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks per game. She is knocking down 59.3 percent of her attempts from the field Elizabeth Creed has started 14 games up front as well and ranks second on the team in minutes played with 17.5 per game this season. She is averaging 7.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game for CNU.

Salisbury is coming off a 68-54 win against Virginia Wesleyan on Monday night after a hard-fought battle against nationally-ranked Randolph-Macon last week. The Sea Gulls have been led this season by Nicole Miller and Abby Plaugher with 12.9 points per game apiece.

Following the Friday matchup, the Captains will return home to prepare for next week's trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. The C2C Championship will be played starting with the quarterfinals on Thursday, February 27 before the semifinal round on Friday, February 28. The title will decided on Saturday, March 1 between the semifinal victors with game time set for 2:00 p.m. (CT).
