NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University puts its four-game winning streak on the line Wednesday night, as the 12th-ranked Captains host the Sea Gulls of Salisbury University. Game time at the Freeman Center is set for 7:00 p.m.
The teams met just a week ago in Salisbury, Md., and the Captains came away with an 81-69 victory over the Gulls last Wednesday night at the Maggs Center. Fifth-year senior All-American
Jahn Hines led the way for CNU with 23 points, and junior
Collin Hines was right behind his brother with a 19-point performance.Â
Jahn Hines went over the 1,900-point mark in CNU's victory at SU. He was named the Player of the Week in the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference for the third straight week on Monday, and has now received the honor six times this season, and 19 times in his career. Hines has 1,918 career points in 116 games as a Captain, and is 59 points behind Steve Artis for second place on CNU's all-time scoring list.
Salisbury enters Wednesday's action with a 15-7 record. The Sea Gulls fell at Mary Washington on Saturday, 86-53, and have now dropped two straight after winning four consecutive games. Maurice Williams' squad is led by graduate student Jordan Oates, who is averaging 19 points and 13 rebounds per game.
Wednesday's battle will be the 55th all-time of the programs, and the Captains hold a 38-16 edge in the series. CNU has won 15 of the last 16 games over the Sea Gulls dating back to January of 2017.

John Krikorian's squad has won ten of 11 games this year at the Freeman Center. Christopher Newport will play its final home game of the regular season on Saturday, hosting the Eagles of the University of Mary Washington. It will be Senior Day, and tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
