CNU Athletics Collects Nearly 7,000 Pounds of Food for Holiday Donation Drive

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- As part of the annual Christopher Newport Food for Thought charity drive, the Department of Athletics put together an impressive donation of 6,800 pounds of food for the Peninsula Food Bank.

Over 200 student-athletes contributed from all 24 varsity sports at Christopher Newport as the Captains collected nearly three-and-a-half tons of food for the annual charity drive.

Christopher Newport has donated over 75,000 lbs of food since 2013 when the annual charity drive started as part of the CAC Challenge.

Roland Ross, the Director of Community Engagement, organizes the annual contributions from the athletic department. The University participated in the 18th Annual Food for Thought Campaign with the athletic department ranking among the highest contributors campus-wide.
