EWING, N.J. -- Christopher Newport, now ranked No. 15 in the WBCA Coaches Poll, will look to bounce back on the road as the Captains (2-2) are set to travel to The College of New Jersey (0-3) on Wednesday evening. CNU women's basketball tips off at 5:00 p.m. against the Lions.

It marks just the second ever meeting between Christopher Newport and TCNJ with the first coming on November 8, 2019. The Captains won that matchup, 87-45, in Grantham, Pa. The game will be played at Packer Hall on the TCNJ campus.
CNU is coming off a tough weekend at the Bridgewater College Invitational where the team dropped decisions to the host Eagles, 71-65, and then No. 8 Johns Hopkins, 59-38. The Captains opened the season with a pair of wins at the Fred Raizk Memorial Tournament in Ohio, capturing wins against Wittenberg and UC Santa Cruz.
TCNJ has opened the year with an 0-3 record while playing stiff competition as well. The Lions nearly upset No. 11 Trinity (CT) on the road, 79-73, and also battled closely with Rhode Island College, 82-70.

Madison McKenzie, averaging 11.5 points per game after posting a career-high 19 against Bridgewater last weekend. Rookie
Sydney Worsham is adding 9.0 points per game while also leading the team in steals with 11. The Captains defense has frustrated opponents, forcing over 26 turnovers per game so far this season.
TCNJ is averaging 72.7 points per game this season while being led by Amanda Baylock with over 20 points per game. The Lions are shooting over 30 three-pointers per game while Baylock has averaged 3.0 per game; Maddie Bernhardt is shooting 50 percent with seven makes from beyond the arc this season. Bernhardt ranks third on the team with 9.7 points per game while Katie Fricker, the team's leading rebounder, is second with 12.7 points per game.
The first mid-week game of the season will be followed by another road trip this weekend as the Captains are set to travel to Glenside, Pennsylvania to face Arcadia University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 22.
