NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -
The 2025-2026 Christopher Newport University men's basketball home schedule tips off with a bang Wednesday night at the Freeman Center, as the Captains entertain the second-ranked Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.

The Captains, 1-0, were ranked ninth in the pre-season poll from D3hoops.com. John Krikorian's team opened the new season on Friday night with an 86-67 victory at Penn State Altoona, as the Captains had four players reach double figures in scoring. Junior Toa Hollenbeck came off the bench to lead the way with 13 points, as the Captains opened their 58th season of action in program history. The Captains shot 48 percent (35-of-73) from the field, and made seven-of-30 from long range. CNU held a 51-27 advantage on the boards for the night in the opener.

Randolph-Macon is 2-0 so far, and the Yellow Jackets won both games played last weekend in the Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament in Pennsylvania. R-MC opened the year on Friday with a 97-71 triumph over Eastern, and then defeated the host school, Gettysburg College, 62-59, on Saturday.

"This is a great rivalry, and the players know each other well," Krikorian said. "Randolph-Macon has everybody back from last year's team, and we've got just about everybody back except Jahn Hines, so I think it will be a great barometer of where we are as a team right now and where we need to be. It's a long season, and it's all about growth as a team. We have a very competitive schedule to help us get better every time we take the floor."

The Captains and the Yellow Jackets will be meeting for the 34th time in history, and Randolph-Macon holds a 21-12 edge in the series. Since the Yellow Jackets moved from Division II to Division III, the series is even over the last 24 games played, 12-12. Last year in Ashland, Va., R-MC recorded a 77-72 victory over the Captains at Crenshaw Gymnasium. Both schools advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year, and both exited with losses in the second round.

Tickets for the game will be available at the Freeman Center ticket office. Christopher Newport will be collecting food at the Freeman Center Wednesday night for the annual holiday food drive.

Christopher Newport games are broadcast live on the Home of the Captains, Xtra 99.1 FM and CNUsports.com. The pre-game show will begin at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday night. The game video will be streamed live and links to watch the live stream as well as to follow the live stats are provided at the top of this story.

Following the renewal of the rivalry with Randolph-Macon, the Captains will travel to Washington, D.C., on Saturday for a 3:00 p.m. game at Catholic University.
