LANGHORNE, Pa. -
Christopher Newport University plays the third of four straight road games Monday afternoon when the seventh-ranked Captains take on the Highlanders of Cairn University. Tip off is set for 3:00 p.m. at Mason Activity Center on the Cairn campus.

John Krikorian's Captains are coming off a 77-72 loss Wednesday night at Randolph-Macon College. The defeat snapped a five-game CNU winning streak, and dropped the Captains to 14-4 on the year. Christopher Newport trailed by two at halftime, 36-34, and the teams exchanged the lead 13 times in the back-and-forth battle, with six lead changes coming in the second half. The teams were never separated by more than six points, and were knotted seven times, including a 68-68 tie with 1:58 to play before a 9-4 game-ending run by the 16th-ranked Yellow Jackets. Sophomore Ethan Ward led the way in scoring for the Captains with 19 points.

Fifth-year senior All-American Jahn Hines scored 17 points in Wednesday's loss, and moved into fifth place on the CNU all-time scoring list, passing Conley Taylor. Hines is now eight points behind Marcus Carter, who is fourth on the list currently.

Cairn, meanwhile, is 9-7 on the year following a double-overtime victory on Saturday at home over Wilson College, 99-98. The Highlanders are a member of the United East Conference, and the win over Wilson improved their conference mark to 6-2. Monday's game will be the first-ever of the two schools. Cairn was known as Philadelphia Bible College prior to 2012.

Christopher Newport games are broadcast live on the Home of the Captains, Xtra 99.1 FM and CNUsports.com. The pre-game show will begin at 2:40 p.m. Monday, and you can listen to the live action by clicking the link at the top of this story.
