NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- After enduring several changes to the schedule this week, the nationally-ranked Christopher Newport baseball team will be back in action on Sunday as the Captains (8-3) play host to Penn State Harrisburg (4-5) in a doubleheader at Captains Park. First pitch of the first game is slated for 11:00 a.m. and will be followed by a second game at approximately 2:00 p.m.
NOTE: March 10, 2024 is the start of Daylight Saving Time and clocks will be advanced forward one hour overnight.

The Captains have won two of their last three games with the lone loss coming by one run in extra innings. CNU has been led by senior outfielder

Brandon Cassedy has a 3-0 record with a 0.47 ERA through his first three starts and was named the National Pitcher of the Week following a tremendous outing last weekend. Fifth-year senior
Dylan Weber is 2-0 with a 1.06 ERA as the duo anchor a pitching staff that boasts an impressive 2.63 team ERA through the first 95+ innings this season. In the bullpen,
Kyle Lewis has not allowed an earned run in six appearances while striking out 11 batters over 6.1 innings of work.
Penn State Harrisburg is coming off a pair of losses to nationally-ranked Salisbury late in the week. The Lions are now 4-5 overall riding a four-game skid after opening the season with wins in four of the first five. Senior outfielder Kevin Lehner leads the offense hitting .324 with 12 RBI and a pair of home runs.
Following the twin bill on Sunday, the Captains will host Randolph-Macon College on Thursday, March 14 at 3:00 p.m. and Marymount University on Friday, March 15 at 3:00 p.m.
