FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- The nationally-ranked Christopher Newport women's basketball team will travel to Mary Washington on Wednesday night for a 6:00 p.m. matchup against the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference foe. Making the return trip to Fredericksburg, the Captains (21-1) are matching up against the Eagles (13-7) for the second straight game after earning a 74-56 win at home last Wednesday.

Since the hotly contested bout a week ago, Mary Washington has bounced back with a win at Salisbury, 62-42, while the Captains remained idle. The two teams will be facing off for the 63rd time in the all-time series history, with Christopher Newport now boasting a 41-21 advantage in the matchup including 11 straight wins.

The Captains will hit the road for the first time since January 13 when CNU earned an 86-39 win at Salisbury to earn the 39th straight victory as the visiting team. CNU has already set the NCAA Division III record for consecutive road wins and will look to make it 40 straight in Wednesday night's contest.

This week, Christopher Newport slid back one spot to No. 5 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 rankings while moving up one in the WBCA Coaches Poll, now slotted in at No. 6. After reaching the NCAA Tournament Round of 16 last season, the Eagles were receiving votes in the national polls until January; since falling out of the poll, Mary Washington is 5-2 against Division III opponents with both losses coming against nationally-ranked opponents.

Hannah Kaloi is leading the Captains in scoring with 12.1 points per game and has registered double figures in seven of the last eight games. Senior forward Alivia Giles is the only other Captain averaging double figures with 11.5 points per game while also grabbing a team-high 6.2 rebounds per game. This week, senior guard Camille Malagar was named the C2C Women's Basketball Player of the Week after pouring in 19 points against the Eagles. She is now averaging 9.9 points per game while leading the team in steals and three-point shooting percentage.

Against the Captains, Megan Baxter and Ashley Martin led the way with 12 points apiece while Jordan Carpenter added 11 points. Carpenter is the leader for the Eagles, averaging 15.6 points and 10.9 rebounds per game, while Sydney Sherman is adding 12.1 points per game.

Following the Wednesday evening matchup, the Captains will travel to Division II Barton College on Sunday, February 11 at 1:00 p.m. for an exhibition game. CNU will then close out the regular season with the home finale on February 14 against Southern Virginia before hitting the road to face Warren Wilson on February 17.
