NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Fresh off a home win on Saturday, the Captains of Christopher Newport University travel to Danville, Va., for a Monday night contest at Averett University. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Grant Center on the Averett campus.

Collin Hines (12 points and 12 rebounds). The Hines brothers were joined in double figures by sophomore
Ethan Ward, who recorded 11 points and pulled down nine boards. The Captains, ranked fifth in the country in the pre-season poll, led the game from start to finish, and out-rebounded the Cougars, 52-29.
Averett, meanwhile, is 4-0 on the year and the Cougars are also coming off a win on Saturday. AU traveled to Greensboro, N.C., and defeated the Pride of Greensboro College, 74-59. Freshman Mason Mitchell, who averages 13 points per game, led the Cougars with a career-high 19 points. David Doino's squad, now a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, has five players averaging in double figures through their first four victories.
CNU and Averett are both former longtime league members of the USA South Athletic Conference. The schools will be meeting for the 92nd time Monday night, and the Captains hold a 74-17 advantage in the all-time series. Most recently, the schools met last December 11th at the Freeman Center, with the Captains registering a 61-50 triumph. The victory was the tenth straight for the Captains in the series. Jan Hines led the Captains in the win with 14 points. Hines moved into ninth place on the CNU all-time scoring list on Saturday, and is 57 points behind Buck Moore for the eighth spot.

Following Monday's game, the Captains will have a short break for Thanksgiving, and return to play this Saturday and Sunday at the Freeman Center in the annual Holiday Inn Invitational. CNU will play Transylvania University Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in the opening round.
