Newport News, Va. - The Christopher Newport volleyball team returns to action on Wednesday, October 2, for their first midweek match of the season. The Captains will welcome Randolph to the Freeman Center for a 6:00 PM match as they look to extend their six-match winning streak.

The Captains are coming off an undefeated weekend in Virginia Beach, where they won all three matches to extend their winning streak to six. Christopher Newport defeated Virginia Wesleyan 3-1 on Friday before posting a 3-0 sweep over Stevens and a 3-1 victory against Albion on Saturday. Graduate setter

Noelle Starr were both recognized for their standout performances, sweeping the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference (C2C) Player of the Week honors. Vitale earned her second consecutive Offensive Player of the Week award after recording three straight double-doubles, including a season-high 48 assists in the win over Albion. Starr anchored the defense with three consecutive 20-dig performances, including back-to-back season highs of 24 digs against Virginia Wesleyan and Stevens.

60 - The Captains recorded 60 kills in their four-set win over Albion last weekend, marking the first time this season CNU has hit 60 or more kills in a match. Last season, the Captains accomplished this three times, including a four-set victory over Southern Virginia. Outside hitter
Samantha Dorn, who had 15 kills against Albion, also tallied 14 in last year's match against Southern Virginia.
Series History
Christopher Newport holds an 11-0 all-time record against Randolph in a series that dates back to 1979. The two teams last met in 2018 at the Freeman Center, where the Captains swept the WildCats 3-0. CNU held Randolph to a -.045 hitting percentage in that match and

Scouting the WildCats
Randolph enters the match with a 9-7 record but has dropped two of its last three contests. Last weekend, the WildCats split their matches, defeating Eastern Mennonite before falling to St. Mary's. Brooke Murdock leads the team with 75 blocks and is second in kills with 131.
