LEXINGTON, Va. -- Taking on a talented Sewanee squad in a neutral site matchup on Saturday, the 37th-ranked Christopher Newport men's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback. CNU fell to 3-2 overall while Sewanee improved to 2-1 with the win. 
While the final score favored Sewanee, four of the nine matchups went to tiebreakers including a hard-fought No. 3 doubles bout featuring 
Edvard Porsmyr Hansen and 
Vincent Truong. Taking on Peyton Erck and Noah Holsclaw, the Captains' No. 3 tandem suffered an 8-7 (9-7) loss. 
In singles play, 
Alec Strause forced a second-set breaker against one of the top players in the nation as he faced No. 8 Jordan Theron on the top line. Strause eventually succumbed to a 6-0, 7-6 (2) setback in the match after forcing the breaker. 
Truong also pushed his opponent to a tiebreaker in the second set before falling to Talman Ramsey (6-3, 7-6 (3)). 
Jake Dolphin picked up the lone set victory of the day for Christopher Newport, earning a 7-5 win against Gil Weston in the first. Weston rebounded and outlasted Dolphin by a narrow margin 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8). 
Christopher Newport will return to action on their annual trip to California starting on March 5 as they take on Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference foe UC Sant Cruz at 11:00 a.m. CNU will also face Whittier (March 6), Chapman (March 9), and Redlands (March 10) on the trip to the Golden State.
