SALISBURY, Md. -- Fresh off earning the No. 1 ranking in the D3hoops.com Top 25, the Christopher Newport women's basketball team will look to continue a 22-game winning streak on Saturday, February 11 as the Captains travel to Salisbury University. Tip-off against the Sea Gulls is slated for 2:00 p.m. as part of a doubleheader with the men's programs.
The matchup will be played at the Maggs Physical Activities Center on the Salisbury campus. Live stats and a live video webcast will be available with links at CNUsports.com.
The Captains are taking on the Sea Gulls for the 41st time and hold a 28-12 advantage in the all-time series after earning a dominant 48-point win on January 14 at the Freeman Center. CNU has won 13 straight overall against Salisbury including six straight at the Maggs Center.
CNU is coming off a pair of wins at the C2C Classic last weekend, defeating Regent University (96-42) and UC Santa Cruz (73-62) at the Freeman Center. That followed a run that included eight of nine games on the road that saw CNU improve to 11-0 as the visiting team this season. The Captains have won 29 straight road games, leading the NCAA in Division I, II, and III, men or women.

Anaya Simmons is closing in on 1,000 career points needing just eight more to reach the milestone. This season, the nation's leader in field-goal percentage is averaging 14.5 points per game and leads the team in rebounding with 7.9 boards per contest. Simmons has knocked down 66.3 percent of her shots, moving up to 21st in NCAA Division III history for single-season FG percentage.

Sondra Fan, scoring 14.7 points per game while ranking in the top-25 nationally in three-point shooting. Fan continues to climb the all-time scoring chart at Christopher Newport and currently ranks ninth in career points with 1,363.
Salisbury is 7-16 overall this season and will be playing just the seventh home game of the year against the Captains. Ashlynn Burrows and Abby Wilkinson are leading the Sea Gulls with just over nine points per game this season. Emily Dilger has snared 150 rebounds and leading Salisbury with 6.5 per game.
Following the matchup on Saturday, Christopher Newport will return to action on Wednesday, February 15 to close out the regular season at home against Mary Washington.
