ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- After a ten-day break for final exams, the third-ranked Christopher Newport women's basketball team will be back in action on Tuesday afternoon as they travel to North Carolina Wesleyan University (3-3) to face the Battling Bishops. The Captains (8-0) will tip-off at 3:00 p.m. in the Tuesday afternoon tilt as the squad looks to extend the nation's longest winning streak on the road.

CNU will be playing in Everett Gymnasium for the third time this season after participating in the 2023 Jean Edge Classic hosted by N.C. Wesleyan earlier this year. The Captains earned wins over Emory (57-47) and Maryville (84-60) on November 11-12 in the tip-off tournament played in Rocky Mount, N.C.

For fans unable to attend in person, live stats and a live video webcast will be available for fans with links at the top of this page and on the women's basketball schedule at CNUsports.com.

Christopher Newport and North Carolina Wesleyan have played 85 times prior to Tuesday's matchup and the Captains own a 68-17 lead in the all-time series. CNU has won nine in a row and are 25-12 in Everett Gymnasium.

CNU is coming off a 30-point win on the road at Haverford on December 2, continuing a road winning streak that is now 34 consecutive wins as the visiting team. The Captains own the longest road win streak across the NCAA landscape, including men's and women's basketball, at all three levels. The matchup will be the second of eight straight games played away from the Freeman Center throughout the month of December and start of January.

The Captains are leaning on strong defense this season, holding six of the team's eight opponents to 60 points or fewer. CNU is holding foes to 53.0 points per game and 34.2 percent shooting. Additionally, the rapid rotation patented by head coach Bill Broderick's teams over the last decade continues to lead to success for the Captains. This year, CNU ranks sixth in the nation in bench points as the reserves have scored 37.8 points per game.

N.C. Wesleyan features one of the nation's most efficient shooters in Kayrisma Harrison, knocking down 65.3 percent of her attempts from the field this season to rank third in Division III. The Battling Bishops have scored back-to-back wins at Brevard (71-59) and Pfeiffer (63-52) before also taking a ten-day spell before Tuesday afternoon's matchup. Harrison has led the way with 13.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game while Corynthian Williams is adding 10.0 points per game.

Following the Tuesday afternoon road trip, the Captains will head the other direction with a trek to New Jersey on Saturday, December 16 as they take on Stevenson University at 4:00 p.m.
