HAVERFORD, Pa. -- After opening the season 7-0 with four wins at the Freeman Center, the Christopher Newport women's basketball team will spend the holiday season away from home. The third-ranked Captains will open up an eight-game road trip that will span seven weeks on Saturday afternoon at Haverford College (3-2) at 1:00 p.m.

Embarking on the lengthy stretch away from the Freeman Center, the Captains are well-equipped to win on the road as they are currently riding the longest active winning streak in road games across the NCAA landscape, including both men's and women's basketball, at all three divisions. CNU has won 33 straight road games dating back almost exactly four years with the run starting at Stevenson University on Sunday, December 1, 2019. The last road loss came at Meredith College on November 23 of that same season.

The first of the eight games will be played at Calvin Gooding Arena just outside of Philadelphia against the Fords of Haverford College. It will be just the second all-time matchup between the Captains and the Fords after the two teams battled in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament where Christopher Newport secured a 63-50 win on a neutral court.

For fans unable to make the trip to Pennsylvania, live stats and a live video webcast will be available online. Links to both can be found at the top of this page or via the women's basketball schedule at CNUsports.com.

Christopher Newport is coming off its largest victory of the season after cruising to a 36-point win over Greensboro Collge last Sunday, 79-43. The Captains defense flexed, holding their opponent to 60 or fewer points for the fifth time this season, while the offense continued to feature a balanced attack. Rookie Jessica Dornak led all scorers with 12 points while freshman Caitlin Crump added a double-double off the bench with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

This season, senior forward Alivia Giles is leading the team in scoring (10.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.7 rpg) while knocking down a team-best 53.8 percent of her shots. Senior guard Camille Malagar has added 9.9 points per game  while sophomore McKenna Snively is adding 8.0 points per contest.  The balanced attack features 11 players averaging 10.0 minutes per game or more.

Haverford opened the season with three straight wins before dropping a pair against Ursinus and McDaniel this week. Leading the way for the Fords  has been senior guard Ally Landau, pouring in 16.0 points per game while knocking down 1.7 three-pointers per game. She also leads the squad in assists per game, but has missed the last two games after opening the year with an impressive start. Siena Emuobor has started all five games and is another statistical leader for Haverford, scoring 9.2 points and hauling in a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game.

Following the road trip to Haverford, the Captains will have a ten-day break for final exams before traveling to North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday, December 12 for a 3:00 pm tip.
