NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Christopher Newport Volleyball traverses the country this weekend for three matches in Santa Cruz, California and the Coast-to-Coast Invitational.
Match Details
The Captains face off with Colorado College on Saturday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. match before playing the hosting UC Santa Cruz at 6:00 p.m. The next day, the Captains and Banana Slugs face off again at 1:00 p.m.
Last Time Out
Christopher Newport topped Averett last Saturday to win their eighth match in a row. Eight is the longest regular season winning streak for the Captains since September of 2021. Both
Sammy Carroll (45 assists, 10 digs) and
Samantha Dorn (13 kills, 11 digs) totaled double doubles in the win over Averett as the Captains improved to 9-2 in matches away from home this season.

Series History
The Captains have lost their only two matches against Colorado College. They first met Colorado in 2008 and played them again in 2014. CNU is 2-2 against UC Santa Cruz, including two matches in 2022. The Captains won their first two matches against UCSC in 2012 and 2014, but lost twice last season.
Scouting the Tigers
Colorado is 8-7 this season after snapping a four match winning streak last Sunday at the hands of No. 10 Trinity. The Tigers are 2-4 in neutral site matches this year and are averaging 12.74 kills per set, which ranks 36th in the nation. Carolyn Dormady leads the attack with 3.23 kills per set.
Scouting the Banana Slugs
UC Santa Cruz has a 12-7 record headed into their first home matches since September 3rd. The Slugs played their last 14 matches on the road, but will return home for five matches this weekend. UCSC is 5-0 at home this season. They rank 8th in the nation with 141 blocks this season, led by Kelly Anne Greene who has 58.
