NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -
Christopher Newport University tops the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) with a 2-0 record, and the Captains look to continue their winning ways Saturday afternoon against Kean University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Kelchner Field at TowneBank Stadium. The contest is part of Homecoming Weekend celebrations on the CNU campus.

Paul Crowley's squad is 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the NJAC, the only conference unbeaten team. CNU is coming off a 21-18 victory last Saturday in the rain over Rowan University in Glassboro, N.J. The Cougars of Kean are 0-6 overall and 0-3 in the NJAC, and were shut out last Saturday at home by the College of New Jersey, 27-0.

"We can't afford to look past anyone," Crowley said on Thursday as his team continued to prepare for action. "It sounds like coach-speak, but you can get beat any week if you're not focused and prepared. Kean has some really physical players and I know they'll come in here ready to play us. We have to meet the challenge and take care of business."

The meeting will be the ninth all-time of the programs, and Kean has a 5-3 edge in the series. The Captains won last year's game in Union, N.J., by a 24-13 score.

All Christopher Newport games are broadcast live on the Christopher Newport/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) with the pre-game show beginning at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. The game will be streamed live on CNUsports.com, and can be seen by clicking the link at the top of this story. Live stats can also be accessed by clicking the link above.
