FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Following a historic run with the 16th-ranked Christopher Newport field hockey team,
Emma Logue has been named the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Captains to three straight lopsided victories.
During the week, Logue paced the squad with 12 points after collecting four goals and four assists. Aided by those efforts, Christopher Newport registered at least seven goals in three straight games, marking the longest streak by the program since 2006.
Kicking things off on Tuesday at Virginia Wesleyan, Logue lit up the Marlins with a career-high six points during an 8-0 victory. Showcasing her diverse skill set, she posted two goals and a pair of assists, becoming just the seventh player in program history to record two of each in a single game.
After her midweek masterpiece, Logue returned for two more standout performances over the weekend. On Saturday, she picked up a goal and an assist in a 7-0 victory over Haverford. Less than 24 hours later, she matched that effort with another strike and helper during a 9-1 triumph against Concordia (Wisc.) on Sunday morning.
With her performance during the week, the Ashburn, Virginia native became the first Captain since 2013 to record at least one goal and one assist in three straight games. Overall, she is just the fourth player in program history to accomplish that feat, joining Christopher Newport Hall of Famer Belle Tunstall and former legends Haylie Black and Ashley Traylor.
So far this season, Logue leads the conference with four assists and slots third with five goals. Additionally, her 14 total points place her second among league competitors and ninth in the entire NCAA.
Buoyed by Logue's work, Christopher Newport currently ranks fifth in the nation with a 6.00 goals-per-game average.
Logue and the rest of her teammates will return to action on Saturday when Christopher Newport hosts Bryn Mawr at 11 a.m.
