Christopher Newport enters the weekend with a pristine 14-0 record, including an 8-0 mark at home. On the other side, Mary Washington is 8-7 overall and 5-2 on the road, while Colorado College is 5-7 with a 2-7 record on the road.

The Captains will also provide a broadcast of the action with Randy Foster and Will Geise calling Saturday's game before Jake Myers teams up with Geise in the booth on Sunday. Direct links can be found at the top of this release and on the schedule page.
Prior to Saturday's game, Christopher Newport will also hold its annual Senior Day celebration. During the pregame festivities, the Captains will set aside time to celebrate the careers and accomplishments of the squad's fourth-year seniors.
Brady Altobello,
Steven Cornwell,
David Gonzalez,
Tyler Lamb,
Thomas Mark,
Campbell Pozin,
Matt Rice, and
Burke Widhelm have helped the program compile a 44-14 record since 2019 while advancing to the program's first Final Four in 2021. Along the way, the group has spent 30 consecutive weeks in the top-20 of the USILA National Coaches Poll and 19 straight in the top-10.
The Captains come into Saturday's tilt as the No. 1 ranked team in the country after taking over the top spot in the poll on Monday. The squad reached the pinnacle position after knocking off Salisbury, 17-7, on Saturday. The Sea Gulls, who entered the game ranked first in the country, scored the opening goal of the contest but never led again as the Captains held an advantage for the final 53 minutes of regulation.
Against Salisbury,
Andrew Cook unloaded a game-high four goals, while
Warner Cabaniss won 18 of his 26 faceoff attempts. For those efforts, they were honored as the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week. Meanwhile,
Dylan Rice made some history while registering a hat-trick against the Sea Gulls. With that performance, he posted a goal in his 21st consecutive game dating back to last year. That stands as the longest scoring streak in school history, topping
Alex Brendes' previous run of 20 straight outings with a goal from February 15, 2020 through May 1, 2021.
Entering the weekend, Christopher Newport currently ranks second in the nation in scoring offense (18.79 goals per game) and third in takeaways-per-contest (17.14). The Captains also slot 10th in the nation in clearing percentage (.881) and 22nd in scoring defense (8.07 goals-against-average).
On an individual level,
Phoenix Hines is eighth in the NCAA with 42 caused turnovers, while
Max Wayne is 15th with 39. On the other end of the field, Rice is ninth in the country with 51 goals. Meanwhile, Cabaniss is 21st in faceoff percentage (.667), and
Zac Hanway is 21st in goals-against-average (8.07).
Mary Washington comes into Saturday's tilt following a 14-10 setback against St. Mary's (Md.) last weekend. Against the Seahawks, the Eagles held a lead after the first quarter and entered halftime tied at five. However, St. Mary's pulled ahead late and out-scored the opposition, 4-1, in the fourth quarter to steal the win.
Overall this season, J.D. Nozemack has been one of the country's top playmakers while ranking sixth in the NCAA with 81 points. His 37 assists also slot him 20th on the national charts. On faceoffs, John Staugaitis is 47th in the country in ground balls per game (7.27) and 72nd in winning percentage (.585). Between the pipes, Riley Green leads the conference with 167 saves while boasting a .517 save percentage and 12.06 goals-against-average.
Colorado College makes the trek east on a three-game tear, including a 15-12 triumph over Whittier last Saturday. Although the Tigers have lost seven games this season, the squad has faced one of the most challenging schedules in the country. Of their setbacks, four have come against nationally-ranked foes, including No. 3 Salisbury, No. 12 Cabrini, and No. 15 Stevenson. The team also lost to Division II power Colorado Mesa, who is currently ranked 17th nationally, along with Grove City and Catholic, who are receiving votes in the Division III rankings.
On an individual level, Dylan Brown leads Colorado College with 26 goals, while he and Anders Erickson are tied for the team-lead with 34 points. In the crease, Ben Anastos has seen action in eight games while sporting a .539 save percentage and 14.07 goals-against-average. Additionally, Pat Mahoney has played in seven games and compiled a 3-0 record to go along with a .464 save percentage.
Saturday's showdown with Mary Washington will mark the 19th meeting between the two programs with both squads winning nine games apiece. Christopher Newport claimed a 16-7 victory in the lone match-up last year. Meanwhile, Colorado College has split its first two contests against the Captains. The Tigers registered a 12-11 overtime win in 2021.
