FREDERICKSBURG, Va. -- Coby Auslander has been named the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week after piecing together a career-best performance while leading No. 2 Christopher Newport to a dominant victory at Southern Virginia last Wednesday.

The conference award is the first of Auslander's decorated career. Previously, he was named to the USILA National Team of the Week on March 15.

In his lone appearance of the week, Auslander was nearly unstoppable during a 22-10 win at Southern Virginia. Entering the game as one of the nation's leading facilitators, the third-year star flashed his finishing skills against the Knights. Just over a minute into regulation, he intercepted a clear attempt near midfield and quickly stormed in for the game's first goal.

Continuing his early assault, Auslander added another rocket after cleaning up a deflection along the right pipe in the ninth minute. Later, he polished off a first-half hat-trick with a screamer in the second stanza.

After the Captains carried a double-digit advantage into halftime, Auslander wrapped up the game with three more points in the second half. The Pennington, New Jersey native drove home a pair of goals in the third quarter before assisting on a tally in the fourth period, which helped punctuate the lopsided victory.

Overall, his five goals against the Knights established a new career-high. Aided by that performance, he now ranks sixth in the conference with 54 points. His 34 assists also place him second in the league and 12th in the entire NCAA.

Auslander and the rest of his teammates will return to action on Saturday when the Captains host No. 1 Salisbury in the Coast-to-Coast Conference opener at 4 p.m.
