NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport University travels to Marietta, Ohio, for the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament Sectionals this weekend. The Captains, ranked fourth in the nation with a 26-2 record, will play Stockton University of New Jersey on Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at Ban Johnson Arena on the Marietta campus. Stockton is 26-4 this year, and the meeting will be the first-ever for the Captains against the Ospreys.

Seating at Ban Johnson Arena is limited, and the facility will be cleared between games on Friday with separate admissions. Host Marietta (27-2) will play Oswego State (27-2) in the 7:00 p.m. game Friday night. The winners of the games Friday will then advance to play on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.

Captains fans traveling to Ohio can purchase tickets by following these instructions. Christopher Newport tickets for Friday's game will be sold on Thursday, March 10, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., by clicking on the following link: https://pioneers.marietta.edu/sports/2020/10/12/online-ticketing.aspx

Follow these instructions once you open the link. Click the button for the CNU game, and then scroll down to a button that says 'Have passcode?' 

1. Click 'Have passcode' and enter this exclusive code:  CAPTAINS22 (all caps, case sensitive). 
2. The option to buy adult, senior or student tickets will then appear. 
3. After 6pm on Thursday, this code will no longer work and fans can buy ticket from the general admission pool.

If the Captains advance to play on Saturday, be advised that Christopher Newport tickets will be available online only on Saturday, March 12, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and can be purchased by using  the same passcode: CAPTAINS22.  Once the passcode times elapse, all unsold tickets will become general admission tickets for sale until game time or sell out, whichever comes first. 

The Captains advanced to the Sectionals last weekend by beating Baruch and Susquehanna at the Freeman Center. John Krikorian's squad has now won 23 in a row, and the Captains are playing in the Sweet 16 for the ninth time in program history, This is the 25th NCAA Tournament for Christopher Newport in the 54-year history of the program, and the sixth consecutive for the Captains, who are now 26-24 all-time in NCAA action. 

Stockton also hosted two games last weekend to open the tourney, defeating Wilson and Johns Hopkins to move on. The Ospreys have won ten straight games entering play this weekend.
