GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The nationally-ranked Christopher Newport women's basketball team will put it's 7-0 record on the line at Greensboro College (3-1) on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Hanes Gymnasium for a 2:00 p.m. tipoff. The Captains will play their final game before final exams on the road against their former conference rivals.

Christopher Newport and Greensboro were long-standing foes in the Dixie Intercollegiate, now USA South Athletic Conference, running up a streak of 84 games against each other. The Captains own a 60-24 advantage in the all-time series, including seven of the last eight before Christopher Newport exited the conference after the 2012-13 season. This will be the first matchup between the two programs since, as CNU looks to improve on a 22-13 record on the road against the Pride.

CNU is coming off another convincing victory on Wednesday night after disposing of previously unbeaten Bridgewater College, 78-50, and improving to 7-0 on the season. The Captains lead the nation in scoring margin, defeating their first seven opponents by an average of 49.9 points per game. Head coach Bill Broderick has paired the second-ranked scoring defense (39.6 ppg allowed) with the nation's fifth-ranked scoring offense (89.4 ppg) to pull away early and often against teams this season.

Led by D3hoops.com Preseason All-American Anaya Simmons with back-to-back double-doubles, the Captains feature a deep rotation that extends to 13 players into double-figure minutes per game. Simmons averages 12.4 points and 7.9 rebounds per game to lead the team while also ranking second on the team in steals with 16. Fifth-year senior Sondra Fan adds 10.8 points per game in just 17 minutes per game while ranking among the team leaders in steals and assists.

Senior Katy Rader is having a breakout season as a starter in each of the first seven games, averaging 9.4 points and nearly 2.0 three-pointers made per game. Rader has led the tormenting defense with 17 steals as well. Up front, Hannah Kaloi and Alivia Giles are adding 9.0 and 8.7 points per game, respectively, while shooting a combined 56.3 percent from the field. Giles leads the team by knocking down over 65 percent of her shots so far this season.

Greensboro enters the Saturday matinee with three wins after suffering a season-opening loss to Guilford. The win streak includes victories over Piedmont, Sewanee, and Methodist, all away from home. Five players are averaging double figures as the team sports a stark contrast in style to the Captains, with only eight players playing more than 3.5 minutes per game this season. Audrey Jennings leads the way with 14.5 points per game off the bench while Ta'Keria Legette leads the starting five with 12.5 points per game.

Live stats and a live video webcast will be available for all the action at 2:00 p.m. Links to both can be found at the top of this page or on the women's basketball schedule at CNUsports.com.

Following the Saturday matchup, the Captains will have a brief respite from the schedule with an eight-day break until they host N.C. Wesleyan on Sunday, December 11. That game at the Freeman Center will tip at 2:00 pm.
