The 2022 Christopher Newport volleyball season came to a close on Saturday night with loss in the regional final to Juniata.
First Set (Juniata 25-18)
CNU held square with Juniata through most of the first set, but two 4-0 runs helped the Eagles gain the advantage in the first set.
Mackenzie Wright and
Macy Burk each had two kills in the first set, but it wasn't enough to stop Juniata from taking the first set.
Second Set (Juniata 25-18)
Sammy Carroll served two aces as part of four straight points for the Captains that brought them within four. After falling behind again, two kills from
Maddie Carter bookended an ace from
Julia Gleason that kept CNU within striking distance. Juniata took five of the final seven points to clinch the second set.
Third Set (Juniata 25-10)
Mackenzie Wright and
Alyssa Dozier combined for five kills in the third set, but couldn't stop a Juniata attack that hit over .500 and didn't commit an error. The Eagles scored eight of the last nine points to take the set and match.
