CNU GAME NOTES // LIVE CNU RADIO BROADCAST // LIVE VIDEO // LIVE STATS

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The 2022 football regular season comes to a close Saturday, and Christopher Newport University travels to Maryland to take on the Sea Gulls of Salisbury University. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. at Sea Gull Stadium, and to say that the game is important to both schools is a vast understatement.

Both the Captains and Sea Gulls are 5-0 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, and Saturday's game will decide the conference Champion, as well as determine the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Football Tournament. The Captains are 7-2 overall and have won six straight games, while the Gulls are 8-1 and have taken their last seven.

"This is what you work for all season," Head Coach Paul Crowley said following his team's 24-21 victory last Saturday over the College of New Jersey. "To be in a place to win a championship means everything. A lot of our guys have never been in this position, so it's really special for them. Salisbury is a very successful program, and we'll have to play a great game to beat them."

The meeting of the programs will be the 21st all-time, and the Sea Gulls hold a 15-5 edge in the series. Salisbury has won the last six games over the Captains, and the series dates back to the very first football game ever played in CNU history. On September 1, 2001, the Captains hosted the Sea Gulls in the inaugural game for the new Christopher Newport program.

All Christopher Newport games are broadcast live on the Christopher Newport/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) with the pre-game show beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The game will be streamed live by Salisbury, and can be seen by clicking the link at the top of this story. Live stats and complete game notes can also be accessed by clicking the links above.

The NCAA Division III Football Tournament bracket will be announced on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. during an online selection show.
