BUENA VISTA, Va. -- With just four games left in the regular season, the Christopher Newport baseball team will head to Southern Virginia for a pair on Saturday as they wrap up the road portion of the Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference schedule. The Captains (16-8, 8-4) take on the the Knights (0-19, 0-11) starting at Noon.
The Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference Standings find Salisbury at the top with an 11-1 record in conference play. The Captains are three games back while holding a 2.5 game edge on St. Mary's in third place. CNU and the Seahawks will face off in the final series of the season next weekend.

The Captains will be looking to bounce back after a 7-5 loss to No. 4 Salisbury earlier this week; prior to the loss, CNU had run off six straight victories. In the all-time series against Southern Virginia, the Captains are 19-1 with nine straight wins heading into Saturday's matchup. Earlier this season, CNU won, 12-0 and 8-2, in a pair of games at Captains Park.
Senior
Josh Husby (5-0) will head back to the mound for the Captains with a 1.76 ERA and 43 strikeouts over his 46.0 innings pitched this season. He has held opponents to a .192 batting average against during his final season, which currently ranks third in Captains history. Husby has helped anchor a staff that boasts a 3.70 team ERA with 229 strikeouts in 216.2 IP.
Offensively, rookie
Jay Cassady has caught fire, registering six straight multi-hit contests to raise his average to a team-high .387 on the season. He and
Eric O'Brien have held down the middle of the lineup as the senior backstop is hitting .362 with a team-high 24 RBI.
Despite a winless record, Southern Virginia has competed in several close games over the last couple of weeks. The Knights lost a pair of extra-inning contests by just one run in back-to-back games and then went on to score 48 runs in a six-game stretch. The offense is now averaging nearly four runs per game thanks to the healthy spurt.
Sophomore Jackson Massey leads the squad hitting .343 in 13 games played while rookie Nick Daynes has driven in a team-best 12 runs.
Christopher Newport is off during the week until they host St. Mary's (Md.) in the regular season finale next Sunday, May 9.
