Christopher Newport has won nine straight in the all-time series against the Seahawks and now sport a 16-3 advantage in the matchup. The two teams last played over two years ago on March 24, 2019 when the Captains swept a three-game road series by final scores of 18-1, 19-2, and 13-0.

Due to a weather postponement on Wednesday, the CNU baseball team has been off the diamond for a week after sweeping Southern Virginia in conference action last Friday and Saturday. The team outscored the Knights, 20-2, in the two-game set.

The pitching staff has been on a roll led by senior Josh Husby (2-0) and sophomore Dylan Weber (3-1). Husby has struck out 25 batters with a 1.04 ERA and Weber has started a team-high five games with 23 strikeouts in 22.2 innings pitched. With the duo anchoring the rotation, the Captains have posted a 3.36 team ERA through the first 107.0 innings pitched this season.

Offensively, senior leadoff man Conner Clark has recorded a hit in all but one game this season, boasting a .325 average with seven stolen bases and 12 runs scored. Hitting in the two hole, Jonathan Fisher has scored 17 times while senior Eric O'Brien continues to be the top run producer hitting behind him with a .319 average and 15 RBI. Starting at the keystone, Ethan Weaver is slashing .382/.529/.512 with four extra-base hits and eight walks in 42 plate appearances this season.

St. Mary's has been led by Dillon Waters, hitting .370 with seven runs and seven RBI. Waters has also led the pitching staff without allowing an earned run in two starts while striking out 10 in 14.0 innings of work. Jake Wood and Derrick Booker are each hitting .333 as well for the Seahawks.

After the weekend set, Christopher Newport will take on nationally-ranked Salisbury for three games this week starting with a home game on Wednesday, April 7 at 3:00 p.m.
