FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Christopher Newport baseball doubleheader scheduled for Sunday at Methodist University was cancelled halfway through the first game. The Captains were trailing, 3-2, in the sixth inning when the game was ruled a no contest in accordance with the Monarchs' COVID-19 protocols.

There are currently no plans to make up the games against Methodist this season. 

Christopher Newport, boasting a 16-7 overall record, will return to conference play this week with a home game against No. 3 Salisbury on Wednesday, April 28. First pitch against the Sea Gulls is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
