SALISBURY, Md. -- The CNU women's tennis team made quick work of their Coast-To-Coast Athletic Conference foes on Saturday, disposing of Salisbury University by a final score of 9-0.
Earning multiple victories on the day were
Reagan Delp,
Tessa Trate,
Kara Ferner, and
Kiersten Chang. The Captains remained unbeaten in C2C action while they improved to 5-2, 3-0 so far this season.
The Captains raced out to a 3-0 lead after doubles. At No. 1,
Amanda Yermal and Trate won 8-2 before Delp and Ferner paired for a win by the same score at No. 2. Finally,
Kiersten Chang and
Megan Bauer swept the doubles points with an 8-4 win at No. 3.
With the team lead well in hand, the individual matches for Christopher Newport were equally as dominant. Delp dropped just three games in a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles while Trate suffered only two games lost and Ferner none in their wins at 2 and 3, respecttively.
The momentum carried over for Chang, who won her match 6-2, 6-0. Rookie
Karina Crivtonencu and sophomore
Kendra Womack closed out the scoring for CNU with 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 for the former and a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 for the latter.
Christopher Newport will return to action this Friday, April 16 as they travel to Division I Norfolk State University at 1:00 p.m.
