The Captains, who were ranked 14th in the nation last week, are coming off a hard-fought 79-74 victory Sunday afternoon over Lynchburg at the Freeman Center. Senior
Jason Aigner led four Captains in double figures with 17 points as CNU gained revenge for an 83-66 loss to the Hornets on November 21st in Lynchburg. Aigner's performance moved him into 21st place on the school's all-time scoring list, just eight points behind Brandon Jones for the 20th spot.
Hampden-Sydney is 6-0 on the year and the high-scoring Tigers haven't seen action in ten days since defeating Eastern Mennonite in Farmville, 79-52, on December 4th. The Tigers are averaging 86.5 points per game through their first six victories, and have four starters averaging in double figures. Caleb Kimbrough's team has also played well defensively, yielding just 65.5 points per game so far.
Tuesday's battle with Hampden-Sydney will be the first since 1997, when the Captains recorded a 79-74 victory over the Tigers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. It will be the first regular-season contest of the two programs since 1988. The matchup will be the 13th in the series with H-SC holding a 7-5 edge.
Tuesday night's contest will be broadcast live on the Christopher Newport/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM). The pre-game show will begin at 6:40 p.m. The live radio broadcast of the game will be available by clickingÂ
