REDLANDS, Calif. -- Sophomore
Ryan Macy capped his trip to California with a pair of wins for Christopher Newport on Friday afternoon but the 25th-ranked University of Redlands (2-2) pulled away from the Captains for a 7-2 win.
Christopher Newport concluded it's trip to California with the match against the Bulldogs with an overall record of 2-5.
In doubles, Macy played with
Andy Mason, who picked up two wins in Thursday's setback at Caltech. The Christopher Newport pairing won at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, against Thomas Reznik and Andrew Yip.
In singles action, Macy raced past Reznik for a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 4. The Captains got a pair of tough fights on the top two lines, but
Scotty Hunter and
Dominic Lacombe would ultimately fall in their matches at 1 and 2, respectively. Hunter fell to Andrew Leahy 6-2, 7-6 (3) and Lacombe to Donovan Lilov by a three-set score of 6-4, 3-6, 8-0.
The Captains will return to Newport News for their first conference match of the season next weekend. Christopher Newport will host Southern Virginia on Saturday, March 14 at 10:00 am.
