ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. -- The Christopher Newport women's basketball team will put a seven-game winning streak on the line as they travel to St. Mary's City, Md. to take on the Seahawks of St. Mary's College of Maryland on Wednesday night. Tipoff against the Seahawks is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. from the O'Brien ARC for Capital Athletic Conference action between the Captains (15-4, 4-0) and St. Mary's (3-14, 0-4).
The game will wrap up the first round of action in conference play with the Captains holding atop the standings with a perfect 4-0 start to CAC action. St. Mary's is still looking for their first win in conference play.

During the current seven-game winning streak, the Captains' defense has allowed fewer than 70 points in all but two games including three of the last four games holding opponents to 50 points or less. Christopher Newport is coming off an exciting come-from-behind victory at Salisbury, 75-68, led by a 24-point performance by sophomore
Natalie Terwilliger. Terwilliger has scored in double figures in five of the last seven games to lead the Captains' offense, which ranks in the top-20 nationally in scoring offense.
The offense ranks 12th nationally averaging just under 80 points per game with Terwilliger's 12.3 points per game leading the way. Sophomore
Sondra Fan is also adding 11.5 points per game while leading the defense with 40 steals. Junior
Bailey Hodges also has been a pickpocket with 36 steals and rookie
Anaya Simmons has 33 in her first year with the Captains. As a team, Christopher Newport has 318 steals, averaging 16.7 per game which ranks fourth in program history.
St. Mary's has been led by senior All-Conference forward Gina Seifert. Seifert leads the Seahawks in points and rebounds per game, averaging 12.8 points and 8.1 rebounds per game. Kyaira Priest leads the team in assists and steals, with 2.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game so far.
Following Wednesday night's game, the Captains will return home for a matchup against Mary Washington on Saturday, February 1 at 2:00 pm.
