Adrian Beasley led the way for the Captains with 19 points, including the first nine of the game for Christopher Newport, as the Captains improved to 15-4 overall and 4-0 atop the Capital Athletic Conference. Senior

Ian Anderson also reached double figures for the Captains with 11.
"Salisbury is a really veteran group with a lot of talent," Head Coach John Krikorian said following the win. "Any time you can come here and get a win you've got to be happy. I think our defense did a good job overall and it wasn't just one or two people, we had a number of solid contributions."
Beasley, who set a new career game high with five three-pointers, put the Captains ahead, 6-5, with his second triple of the game. Christopher Newport would not trail again the rest of the day. The Captains held a 33-24 edge at the intermission, and went up by as many as 16 in the second half before the Gulls stormed back as close as five, 51-46, with just over eight minutes to play. Beasley responded by draining another three on the Captains next trip down the floor, and Christopher Newport held the Gulls at bay the rest of the way.
Christopher Newport held the Sea Gulls (8-11, 2-2) to 40 percent shooting, and recorded a 45-35 edge in the rebounding column. The Captains held SU's leading scorer for the season, Mike Ward, to just three points. Ward was averaging almost 15 points per game coming in. Gary Briddell led the Salisbury effort with 14 points in front of 402 fans at the Maggs Center.
The Captains now have a 31-16 lead in the all-time series with the Sea Gulls. The teams will meet again on February 15th at the Freeman Center.
Christopher Newport returns. to action at the Freeman Center on Wednesday night, hosting the Seahawks of St. Mary's College (Md.). Tipoff time is set for 7:00 p.m. for the CAC battle.
