NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Christopher Newport returns to action Wednesday night at the Freeman Center, hosting William Peace University in a 7:00 p.m. start. The Captains, now 6-2 and ranked 18th in the country this week, will host a Pacers squad that is off to an 0-5 start to the season.

The Captains are coming off a three-point loss Sunday to Wisconsin-Stevens Point, 61-58, on the second day of the Christopher Newport/Hampton Marina Classic. The defeat snapped a six-game winning streak for the Captains, and also brought an end to a home winning streak of 22 games.
Christopher Newport has been led in the scoring column so far this season by junior
Jason Aigner, who is averaging 13.8 points per game. Senior
Cutch Ellis tops the squad in the rebounding column with 6.1 per game to go with 8.1 points. The Captains have out-rebounded their opponents in all six of their victories, and hold an average edge on the boards of 45-34.
William Peace has been off since November 23rd when the Pacers dropped an 89-78 home game to St. Mary's (Md.). WPU has four players averaging in double figures, led by junior John Burwell at 12.8 points per game. The William Peace program was started in the 2012-2013 season, and the Pacers and Captains have never met before.Â
