It will also be Military Appreciation Day at TowneBank Stadium Saturday, as new Army ROTC cadets will officially be sworn in during halftime ceremonies. The weather forecast calls for sunny skies and temperatures around 50 degrees for the final home game of 2019.
Both teams enter play on Saturday with overall records of 2-6 and 2-3 marks in the NJAC, and both squads are coming off losses last Saturday. The Captains were downed by seventh-ranked Salisbury, 51-0, and the Profs were defeated by Montclair State, 24-17. Christopher Newport and Rowan both dropped their first four games of the season before going 2-2 over the last month.
This will be the 11th meeting of the programs, and Rowan holds a 7-3 lead in the all-time series which dates back to 2002. Christopher Newport has won the last two games including a 39-6 triumph last year in Glassboro, N.J.
"We want to send our seniors off in the right way," Head Coach
Art Link said. "It's always an emotional day and we're obviously going to have to play well to beat Rowan. We've been working hard and I'm proud of how our guys have continued to do everything we've asked of them."Â
Gates at TowneBank Stadium will open at 12 noon on Saturday, and tickets will be available outside the stadium.Â
The game will be broadcast live on the Christopher Newport/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) with the pre-game show beginning at 12:30 p.m. Live video and stats will also be available at cnusports.com/watch.
