NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Captains of Christopher Newport are off to a 1-1 start in the 2019-2020 season, and John Krikorian's squad travels to Lancaster, Pennsylvania, this weekend for the two-day William Marshall Tipoff Tournament at Franklin & Marshall College.

Christopher Newport opened the season last weekend with a four-point loss at Johns Hopkins, but bounced back with a 23-point home victory Tuesday night over Shenandoah. Junior Jason Aigner led the way with 14 points Tuesday and is averaging 13 points per game. The Captains out-rebounded the Hornets Tuesday night by a margin of 60-41.

Senior Cutch Ellis tops the squad so far in scoring and rebeounding, averaging 15 points per game over the first two games, and seven rebounds per contest. Junior Adrian Beasley is scoring an average of 13 points per game, and freshman Ian Anderson has scored 11 in each of his first two games as a Captain.

The game with Marywood will be the first meeting ever of the two programs. The Pacers are off to an 0-2 start, and have dropped decisions to Penn State-Harrisburg and Mount Aloysius to start the season.
