NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Captains of Christopher Newport host the Lions of the College of New Jersey Saturday at TowneBank Stadium. Kickoff for the Homecoming Weekend game in the New Jersey Athletic Conference is set for 3:00 p.m. The Captains are 1-5 overall and 1-2 in the NJAC, while TCNJ is 2-4 and 2-1.

Christopher Newport will be looking to win its 100th conference game in the 19-year history of the program. The Captains are 99-34 (.744) all-time in the Dixie, USA South, and New Jersey Athletic Conference. The meeting will be the fifth of the programs, and the Captains have won three of the first four with the Lions...including a 38-13 victory last season in Ewing, N.J. Christopher Newport is coming off a 24-0 loss last week at Montclair State, while the Lions held off Kean, 7-3, last Saturday.
Christopher Newport's defense has been led this season by junior linebacker
Sean Wilkinson, who has recorded 42 tackles placing him tied for tenth in the NJAC. Junior defensive back
Jake Herzog leads the conference and is third in the country in interceptions with five, and has picked off at least one pass in the last three games. Senior kicker
Dylan Curran leads the NJAC with nine field goals this season, and junior punter
Ben Garbarini is second in the NJAC in punting averaging 43.1 yards per punt. On offense, junior wide receiver
Garrison Mayo is second in the NJAC in receiving yards per game with an average of 73.8.
Homecoming ceremonies will take place at halftime, and Saturday's forecast is calling for a mix of clouds and sun and a high temperature of 71 degrees with only a 15 percent chance of rain.
The game will be broadcast live on the Christopher Newport/Pepsi Radio Network (Xtra 99.1 FM) with the pre-game show beginning at 2:30 p.m. The game will also be available on CNUsports.com with live video and live stats.
