CNU Men's Soccer Travels to Face No. 18 Lycoming College in Non-Conference Action Saturday

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Staying on the road for another non-conference tilt on Saturday, the Christopher Newport men's soccer team is traveling to Williamsport, Pennsylvania to take on nationally-ranked Lycoming College at 2:00 pm. The Captains (3-3-0) will look to stymie the Warriors, who are off to a 5-1-1 start and are ranked No. 18 nationally.

CNU is in the midst of a three-game skid, dropping back-to-back overtime games to fall to .500 on the season. After suffering a 1-0 overtime setback at No. 21 Lynchburg, the Captains went on the road on Wednesday and fell to Washington & Lee in extra time, 2-1.

The Captains opened the season with 15 goals in their first three games, dropping Greensboro (6-1), Pfeiffer (6-0), and N.C. Wesleyan (3-2) before entering the current slide. Senior Stephen Durbin leads the attack, scoring three goals and adding three assists for nine points in the first six games. Junior David Eddleton, the lone scorer in this week's game at W&L, ranks tied for second on the team with 6 points on three goals scored.

Saturday's matchup will be the first ever bout between the two programs. The Warriors have opened the season 5-1-1 despite playing just two games at home in the Shangraw Athletic Complex. Saturday's matchup will be the third straight home game of the season for Lycoming, who picked up a 2-1 win over Scranton and a 6-0 win over Penn College in their current three-game winning streak.

Eleven different Warriors have scored for Lycoming, led by rookie Tajhon Willis and junior Zach Raut with two goals apiece. Willis has added a trio of assists to take over the scoring lead for Lycoming, with seven points. In goal, senior Chris Solecki has four shutouts with just three goals allowed in the first six games of action.

For fans unable to make the trip to Pennsylvania, live stats and a live video webcast will be available on the men's soccer schedule at CNUsports.com.
