ARLINGTON, Va. -- The 17th-ranked Christopher Newport men's lacrosse team will return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. when the Captains battle Marymount in a Capital Athletic Conference showdown at Long Bridge Park.
Entering the contest, CNU sits at 10-2 on the season, including 3-1 in league action. Meanwhile, Marymount is 2-10 and 0-3 in CAC play.

The Captains are coming off of a hard-fought 6-5 setback against No. 11 Salisbury on Wednesday evening. During the contest,
Matthew Crist scored three times, while
Will Stockhausen added a pair of tallies.
Jackson Deal also contributed his 21st assist of the year, which established a new single-season freshman record.
Overall this season, Crist and
Dylan Rice are tied for the league-lead with 33 goals apiece, while Deal and Crist sit third in the conference with 21 assists. On faceoffs,
Tony Cruz is first in the CAC in total victories (170) and winning percentage (.649), while his 82 ground balls place him second overall. Additionally,
Max Wayne is fifth in caused turnovers (19), and
Jake O'Connell is first among non-faceoff specialists with 51 ground balls.
On the other side of the field, Marymount dropped its seventh straight decision with an 11-3 setback at St. Mary's (Md.) on Wednesday. During the game, Jonah Mackiewicz led the Saints with two points, while Christian Lutz won 10 of his 16 faceoffs. Grey Clarkson also finished with 11 saves and a caused turnovers for MU.
So far this year, Lutz ranks fourth in the league with 113 faceoff victories in 209 total attempts. Meanwhile, Clark Akers has a team-high 21 points and 16 goals, while Sean Friedman boasts 10 assists. Between the pipes, Clarkson has compiled a .475 save percentage and an 11.36 goals-against-average.
In eight previous meetings between the two programs, Christopher Newport holds a 6-2 edge in the series. Last year, the Captains posted a 17-3 victory in Newport News. Crist came through with six points during that contest, while
Shane McKenna scored four times.
Following this weekend's game, CNU will return home on April 11 for a 7 p.m. tilt with Mary Washington.
