ATLANTA, Ga. -- After scoring the game-winning goal in overtime on Friday night, Christopher Newport sophomore Carson Pokorny carried that momentum into Sunday afternoon's contest against Berry College, factoring into all three goals as CNU blitzed by the Vikings, 3-0. Pokorny assisted on the game's first goal, and then scored two of her own for a 5-point performance, leading CNU to their sixth win of the season.

The Captains remain unbeaten through seven games, improving to 6-0-1 overall as they near the end of non-conference action.  Berry suffered the loss, falling to 1-2-1 overall.

The Captains' offense was in control of the match from the outset, putting together it's most dominant effort of the season. In total, CNU outshot the Vikings by a final tally of 30-3, including a 19-1 advantage in shots on-goal. Christopher Newport also earned nine corner kicks to Berry's one in the 90-minute contest.

Rookie Riley Cook would net the game's eventual game-winning goal in the 20th minute of action with the first tally of the day. Pokorny delivered a picture-perfect cross into the box for Cook, who headed home the pass for her fifth goal of the season. It was Pokorny's team-leading third assist of the year, and Cook's first career gamewinner.

Just over a minute and a half later, the two traded places as Cook set up Pokorny for the score as CNU took a 2-0 advantage. Pokorny one-timed a shot past the keeper tight to the net off a cross from the freshman forward.

CNU carried the 2-0 edge into the halftime intermission,  while boasting a 16-2 advantage in total shots. The Captains had already tested Berry's goalkeeper, Jackie McGivney, with 10 shots on-goal, in the first 45 minutes.

The third and final tally would come through just six minutes into the second half when Pokorny bent in a corner kick off a defender for her fourth goal of the year. With the score, the sophomore moved into a tie with Cook for the team's lead in scoring, with 11 points.

Defensively, the Captains pitched their second shutout of the season by holding Berry to just three total shots in the game. Senior goalkeeper Carly Maglio played the first 75 minutes with the lone save, while sophomore Maddy Belanger cleaned up the final 15 for the combined clean sheet.

The non-conference portion of the 2017 women's soccer schedule will come to a close on Wednesday night, as the 13th-ranked Captains host Roanoke College at Captains Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 pm, with live stats and live video available at CNUsports.com/live.
