This week's matches will serve as the final two regular season home bouts for Tylar McGill and Katelyn Newsome. The two standouts will be celebrated during the squad's annual Senior Day ceremony on Saturday. Since arriving on campus in 2014, the pair has helped lead the Captains to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances and two Capital Athletic Conference titles. Along the way, the program has compiled a 109-20 record during their tenure.

On an individual level, McGill has served as a team captain during each of the past two campaigns. One of the program's primary setters, she has appeared in 61 career matches and handed out 789 helpers. Her 5.19 assists-per-set average during her career places her 10th on the program's all-time list, while her 391 assists this season currently lead the team. As a sophomore, the Virginia Beach native also helped the squad establish a new program record with a .604 hitting percentage in a three-set victory over Penn St. Harrisburg on October 17.

While McGill has helped pace the attack, Newsome has been a force along the net. A standout on the defensive end, she ranks ninth in program history with a 0.85 blocks-per-set average. Her 0.97 mark this season also places her fourth in the CAC. Effective on the offensive side as well, the Newsoms, Virginia native has 403 kills in 78 career matches, while her .277 hitting percentage this season places her first on the team and second in the conference.

On the other side of the net, Southern Virginia pieced together a 13-match winning streak that was just recently snapped on Tuesday evening against Virginia Wesleyan. Despite the recent stumble, the Knights have been led by Penny Gwynn, who ranks first in the CAC with a 4.35 kills-per-set average. Hannah Allred also sits third in the league with a 3.89 mark and a .276 hitting percentage.

Frostburg State has won its last two outings after upending Penn State Harrisburg and York (Pa.). The Bobcats will also face Mary Washington on Friday before arriving in Newport News on Saturday. FSU has been led by Naya Cheatem, who boasts a 3.08 kills-per-set mark and a .261 hitting percentage. Meanwhile, on the defensive side, Biamba Tshitenge has a team-high 56 blocks, and Lindsey Scepura is averaging 3.98 digs per frame.

Overall, Christopher Newport has a 13-2 record in 15 match-ups against Southern Virginia. The squad has also split eight all-time meetings with Frostburg State.
