For those fans unable to make it to Wednesday's game, Virginia Wesleyan will provide live stats and a video stream of the action at VWCathletics.com. Direct links to both features can be found at the top of this release and on the CNU schedule page.

A LOOK AT THE CAPTAINS

CNU has been led this season by senior Brandon Moloney, who is the reigning CAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. The long-stick midfielder currently leads the conference with 22 caused turnovers, while his 41 ground balls place him sixth in the league and first among non-faceoff specialists.

Also on the defensive end, Michael Mabry is sixth in the league with 15 caused turnovers, while Trevor Royce and Thomas Courtney have also helped provide a steady presence along the back line. Meanwhile, Matt Hayden sports a .589 save percentage and a 7.77 goals-against-average. His 89 total stops also rank second in the conference.

On the offensive end, Dave Magdeburger leads the team with 23 points, while Will Geise is second with 21. Both standouts have contributed nine assists this season, which is tied for the 10th-highest total in the CAC. Ryan Mills, Matthew Crist, and Randy Foster have all scored 11 times apiece as well.

LAST TIME OUT

On Monday, the Captains dropped a 15-8 decision to Union. Both teams entered the contest receiving votes in the latest USILA National Coaches Poll. During the game, the Dutchmen stormed out to an early lead before CNU retaliated with six unanswered goals in the fourth quarter. Foster led the team with five points, while Geise also added a goal and an assist.

SCOUTING THE MARLINS

Virginia Wesleyan opened the year with six straight wins before suffering a 10-3 setback at Washington & Lee on Saturday. During that contest, Tyler Conn registered a pair of goals for the Marlins, while Sean Galloway made eight saves. Ben Fletcher also forced three turnovers, but the Generals collected five straight goals in the second half to pull away for the victory.

Overall this season, Josh Currier leads VWC with 29 goals and 42 points. John Roth has also contributed 14 goals, while Duncan Haight has won 51 of his 103 faceoffs. On the defensive side, Galloway boasts a .612 save percentage and a 7.84 goals-against-average.

SERIES HISTORY

CNU and Virginia Wesleyan have met seven times with the Marlins holding a 4-3 edge in the series. The Captains have won the past two meetings, including a 20-6 victory last year. During that contest, Tony Cruz established a new program record by winning 24 of his 25 faceoff attempts against the Marlins.
