About No. 11/13 CNU Women's Basketball (5-0, 1-0)
The nationally-ranked Captains rank third in the nation in scoring margin, outscoring their first five opponents by an average of 35 points per game. CNU has started the year with five straight wins for just the seventh time in program history and has done so behind a tormenting defense that ranks fourth nationally in turnovers forced (32.2 per game).

Offensively, CNU has not leaned on any one player, but rather focuses on balance up and down the floor. Four different players have led the team in scoring in a game this season, and nine have registered double-figure scoring performances. The front court has the edge in the scoring column for CNU, as five of the Captains' six leading scorers are forwards. Rookies Micah Maloney (9.0 ppg) and Annemarie Beran (6.0 ppg) join an already potent lineup in the front court including Sam Porter (8.8 ppg), Jessica Daguilh (8.4 ppg), and Devon Byrd (6.0 ppg).

About Frostburg State Women's Basketball (1-5, 0-1)
Under the direction of head coach Carrie Saunders, the Bobcats have started the year with a 1-5 overall mark. Frostburg State features one of the league's top threats in the front court, as 5-9 senior forward Kirsten Rayner ranks eight in the CAC in scoring (13.5 ppg) and fifth in rebounding (8.5 rpg). Megan Kelly has added 10.7 points per game while taking the majority of her shots frmo outside the arc. Kelly ranks in the top 50 nationally in 3-pointers attempted.

Christopher Newport owns a perfect 8-0 all-time record against the Bobcats, including a 3-0 mark against FSU in the Freeman Center.

About No. 7 CNU Men's Basketball (4-1, 1-0)
The Captains slipped to seventh nationally this week, but bounced back after their first loss of the season with back-to-back convincing wins at Dickinson and versus Southern Virginia. In both of those wins, senior forward Tim Daly has taken the lead, scoring a season-high 18 points at Dickinson before leading the squad with 13 on Wednesday against the Knights. Daly is closing in on 1,000 career points with 980 in his tenure at CNU, while adding 626 rebounds.

The defense has led the way for head coach John Krikorian's squad, ranking third nationally in scoring defense (56.6 ppg). Opponents are shooting just under 37% on the season against the Captains, while the CNU offense has knocked down nearly 45% of their attempts. Junior Aaron McFarland leads the team with 12.2 points per game, while Daly (11.2) and Marcus Carter (10.8) are also averaging double figures. Senior guards Kevin Regimbal and Rayshard Brown are torching the nets from long range, combining to shoot 50% from deep (12-24).

About Frostburg State Men's Basketball (1-5, 0-1)
After a season-opening win over Mount Aloysius, the Bobcats have suffered five straight losses, including a one-point setback to Waynesburg just before Thanksgiving. In the conference opener on Wednesday night, FSU fell on the road to Mary Washington, 75-55. The Captains will have to contend with the league's leading scorer, as Tyler Michael comes in pouring in 18.8 points per game. Michael is one of only two players to start all six games this season, and is shooting nearly 55% in over 25 minutes per game. Edwin Cole has averaged 8.3 points and rebounds per game to lead the way inside for the Bobcats.

CNU owns a dominant advantage in the all-time series, up 13-4 heading into the 18th meeting all time between the two programs. CNU has won seven straight, dating back to the 2010-11 season.
