MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- In the 42-year history of women's basketball at Christopher Newport, nearly 350 players have donned the Captains uniform, and prior to Saturday, only two scored 1,000 points and collected 1,000 rebounds in their career. Make it three. With her third grab off the glass in the second half, CNU's lone senior, Camry Green, made history and joined the exclusive club, eclipsing the 1K mark for career rebounding and joining Hall of Famers Tia Johnson and Candace Bryant as the only players to reach both marks. She finished the day with her 13th double-double of the season, leading CNU to a blowout win on the road versus Penn State Harrisburg in the regular season finale, 80-52.

CNU improves to 17-8 overall with a 13-5 CAC record to end the regular season, while Penn State Harrisburg falls to 4-21 and concludes the season 3-15 in league play. With the win, CNU captured at least a tie for third place in the league standings. If Marymount wins on Saturday, CNU will serve as the No. 4 seed in next week's CAC Tournament. Should the Saints fall, the Captains will be the No. 3 seed, but no matter the result, the Captains will host an opening round game on Tuesday night in the Freeman Center.

Production came from up and down the roster for head coach Bill Broderick, as all 14 players who made the trip to Pennsylvania played at least nine minutes. Green's performance was the best on Saturday, as the senior knocked down 6-of-8 shots from the field, including her first career attempt from long range. Naturally, on a day where the Richmond native made program history, even the triple banked off the glass and down for the senior. She finished the day with 13 points and 11 rebounds, collecting her 44th career double-double.

The Captains built a 21-point lead at halftime, led by rookie Anitra Thomas with nine points. The freshman was 3-4 from the field in the opening stanza, and helped CNU double up the Lions at the break, 42-21. Freshman Sam Porter added eight and sophomore point guard Lauren Cox had seven in the first half.

The home team shot 45% in the first half, led by Kiara Carter and Kaitlyn Carmo, but turnovers plagued the Lions as they would all day. The CNU defense forced 28 Penn State Harrisburg giveaways, leading to 35 CNU points. The Captains had 16 steals in the contest, led by four from Cox.

Four CNU players finished in double figures as CNU ran away with the game in the second half. Green's 13 points was a game-high, and she was joined in double figures by Thomas, with 11, and 10 each from Porter and Makenzie Fancher. The Captains shot over 47% as a team, knocking down 29 of 61 attempts from the field.

Carmo finished with a team-high 12 points for Penn State Harrisburg, and Carter added 11 points.

Green finished the game with 1,001 career rebounds and now trails Bryant for fourth on the all-time rebounding chart by just eight. Rory Peets is next on the list with 1,033 career rebounds, at third all-time.

CNU will return to action on Tuesday, February 24 as postseason begins play with the CAC Tournament opening round at 6:00 pm.
